Telc Deutsch B2 Speaking Part 2: How to Lead a Discussion
In the second part of the telc Deutsch B2 oral exam, simply delivering a prepared speech is not enough. The Diskussion task assesses whether you can hold a real conversation: introduce a topic briefly, state and support your position, respond to your partner and keep the exchange of ideas going. Its unpredictability is exactly what makes this part challenging. Before the exam begins, you do not know: whether your partner will agree with you; which arguments they will present; what example they will mention; whether they will ask an unexpected question; in which direction the discussion will develop. You cannot memorise an entire dialogue, but you can make it manageable. Instead of preparing fixed answers, learn a clear conversation structure and a set of useful language tools for different situations. This guide explains the complete strategy for Sprechen Teil 2: from summarising the source text to disagreeing politely, asking your partner questions and reaching a final conclusion.
